Frequently Asked Questions Frequently Asked Questions

Q. PART 2 Hi John,
Thanks for the speedy reply. If I used one of the Fer-plast tanks, should the heat mat be underneath the tank or on the tank wall as mentioned?
Also, what size of heat mat would heat the tank and fit inside on the tank wall if this is preferable?

Thank you for all your help and fast replies.

A. Hi,
The heat mat best suited for the Ferplast is the Algarde 6" x 11"; if possible fix it to the outside back wall. The drawback is that the heat mat may not fit exactly and may stick up a bit, then I
would just sit the plastic tank on the heat mat. It will be okay for the time you will be using it.
Place the tank on the heat mat so only half the tank is on the heat mat giving a hot end and a cooler end so that the snake can thermo regulate.
I also recommend you use a Habistat Mat stat thermostat. It is essential as a safety guard, as the new heat mats can get a lot hotter than the old ones.
Hope this helps.

Regards John
